Officers for Justice Endorsed Sheriff's Captain Paul Miyamoto for Sheriff

San Francisco, CA – The Paul Miyamoto for San Francisco Sheriff Campaign announced today the endorsement of Officers for Justice (OFJ).  Officers for Justice is an Association comprised of predominantly African American San Francisco Police Officers, which since 1971 has been a member of the National Black Police Association.

“As a career sheriff, Paul understands what it takes to lead an agency.  He knows what works for the Sheriff’s Department, and what doesn’t.”, said Julian Hill, President of OFJ.  “Sheriff’s Captain Miyamoto has worked side by side with the rank and file of the department and I know that he will enforce the same progressive principles that Sheriff Hennessey has employed over the past 30 years.”

Captain Miyamoto had this to say, “I am honored to have the endorsement of an organization that is not only respected by their peers, but in every neighborhood.  OFJ works hard every day to keep their ties to the community strong and I hope to build on that relationship and find ways the Sheriff’s Department can help to contribute to this effort.”

Officers for Justice joins California law enforcement agencies such as the San Francisco Deputy Sheriffs’ Association, Peace Officers Research Association of California, the San Mateo and Alameda County DSA’s, the Northern Alliance of Law Enforcement, and the San Francisco Asian Peace Officer’s Association in supporting Captain Paul Miyamoto.  As a Captain in the San Francisco Sheriff’s Department, Paul has used his 15 years law enforcement experience to focus on keeping San Francisco resident’s safe and decreasing the recidivism rate by holding management roles in each of the six jails in the City and County of San Francisco.

Captain Miyamoto has run San Francisco’s toughest maximum security jail.  In addition, he has served as Commander of the Institutional Patrol Unit and Investigative Services Unit (Criminal and Internal Affairs) of the Sheriff’s Department and has served as Commander, Special Response Team. He was elected SFPD Police Academy Class President and has served as a Senior Deputy, Sergeant, Lieutenant and now Captain within the Sheriff’s Department.  He lives in San Francisco with his wife LeeAnn and their five children.  Miyamoto earned a BA in History at the University of California, Davis and attended Lowell High School in San Francisco.

Why are so many people supporting Sheriff’s Captain Paul Miyamoto? Do they know something we don’t know? Yes, I think so! Experience, Not Politics are what the supporters are saying. What’s Best for San Francisco? Sheriff’s Captain Paul Miyamoto that knows how to run the department, he knows what direction to take it, he works with the deputies, he works with the civilian staff, he had directly supervised the inmates, he has handled emergencies within the jails, he has managed emergencies as a supervisor in the jails and on the streets of San Francisco.  Sheriff’s Captain Paul Miyamoto walks the walk and talks the talk.

Sheriff’s Captain Paul Miyamoto is dedicated to the San Francisco Sheriff’s Department. He has proven that by his 15 years of professional law enforcement work a the San Francisco Sheriff’s Department. He is not using the position of Sheriff as a stepping stone to further a political career.

Take a look at his opponents, how long have they stayed in one position, have they moved around from job to job, have they worked inside the Sheriff’s department as a deputy, have they promoted up within the sheriff’s department due to there knowledge, experience, professionalism with the department. No they have not!
