Retired Sheriff's Captain Tom Redmond Endorsed Sheriff's Captain Paul Miyamoto for Sheriff

Sheriff’s Captain Paul Miyamoto earned the endorsement of Retired Sheriff’s Captain Tom Redmond and The Deputy Sheriffs’ Association of Alameda County. Miyamoto, a third generation San Franciscan, is the only candidate running for Sheriff who actively serves as a law enforcement official.

Paul Miyamoto, a 15 year veteran of the San Francisco Sheriff’s Department, had this to say, “It is exciting to earn the endorsement of a very well respected member in the law enforcement community, as well as the endorsement of an organization that represents the women and men of one of the best Sheriff Departments in the state. These endorsements show that the people believe the Sheriff needs to be well versed in law enforcement, and not necessarily an expert in politics.”

Tom Redmond joined the Sheriff’s Department over forty years ago and worked his way up to the rank of Captain before retiring.  And much like Miyamoto he carries on a long family tradition of public service.

Captain Miyamoto has run San Francisco’s toughest maximum security jail.  In addition, he has served as Commander of the Institutional Patrol Unit and Investigative Services Unit (Criminal and Internal Affairs) of the Sheriff’s Department and has served as Commander, Special Response Team. He was elected SFPD Police Academy Class President and has served as a Senior Deputy, Sergeant, Lieutenant and now Captain within the Sheriff’s Department.  He lives in San Francisco with his wife LeeAnn and their five children.  Miyamoto earned a BA in History at the University of California, Davis and attended Lowell High School in San Francisco.
